Results of the AKM Video Meteor Network - October 2002 ====================================================== There is not much to say about October. Thanks to the high sporadic activity, the Orionids and Taurids the meteor activity is pleasant. Also the nights are long again in the northern hemisphere, but the rainy weather allowed only for a few observations at many sites in central Europe. In this case you are served best with an automatic camera as in preparation by Joerg Strunk, which can utilize even the smallest cloud gaps, but so far the system is not operational yet. Farther south at the Canaries the weather was better but also far from perfect. At the southern hemisphere, Steve Quirk enjoyed best observing conditions as always. His observing series has only a one week gap in the second part of October. So Steve managed again to collect almost 200 hours of observing time even though the nights are getting shorter now in Australia. Good luck to all of you for the Leonids! 1.
