Results of the AKM Video Meteor Network - August 1999 ===================================================== Since March 1999, some video meteor cameras are regularly operated by members of the German 'Arbeitskreis Meteore'. The systems work fully autonomously with the MetRec meteor detection software. Here are the results for August 1999. Between August 7 and 15, AVIS was operated at the Kamen Bryag meteor camp in Bulgaria. Thanks to the perfect skies there, the limiting magnitude of the system was much better than usual, which is reflected by the increased number of meteor. Only about a third of them are Perseids, completed by numerous recordings of Aquarids, alpha Capricornids, and kappa Cygnids. Unfortunately, we missed the maximum night of the Perseids due to unfavourable weather. The clouds were relatively cooperative in the second part of the months, leaving at least one site with partly clear skies. So, the overall coverage of August is quite satisfying. 1.
